About Us

sunrise at the grand canyon

Ready for Rounds is a free service summarizing the latest research in pediatric medicine. We condense the meat of relevant publications into three simple parts:

  1. the headline of the research,

  2. a short synopsis of the findings, and

  3. how this may or may not immediately impact your care.

Of course, double-check our work before applying principles to your patient care, but we strive for accuracy and stand behind our work.

Medicine moves fast. Let us help you stay in the know.

  • We understand the financial challenges facing today’s medical students and clinicians. As such, we are committed to not placing our content behind a paywall.

That being said, operating this site isn't free. We do not operate for profit, and all donations go directly toward covering our overhead and expenses. We may ask if we can thank you on our website. If you find our resources valuable and are in the place to do so, we greatly appreciate your support.

  • For now, we are run by a single author, Jake T. Soens, a fourth-year medical student at the University of New Mexico. He is amidst applying to pediatrics residencies; he is supported by various faculty members who may occasionally offer additional insight into the clinical applications and relevance.

The site and author works without desire for profit and with the philosophy that we all want to provide the best possible of evidence-based medicine for our patients. We scrutinize each posted finding for potential ethical complications and will be open and honest reflecting conflicts of interest should they arise.

  • For now, our primary focus is on expanding the site’s coverage. That being said, we are also working on a text-to-audio feature embedded on the site that will let you listen on the go—call it a podcast without all the ads.

If there’s a feature you’d like to see, shoot us a message via the contact form on our landing page. We strive to make your life easier.
